The three major articulations within the foot that relate to the mechanics of walking are all covered by the innovative design of the DuroFlex. The Subtalar and Midtarsal joints are accurately simulated by the foot’s combination of articulating ankle and vertical shock absorption features as well as within the changeable keel & heel plugs. The foot’s various metatarsal plugs create a natural toe break point, which allows the foot to roll over the metatarsal heads rather than the tips of the toes. If your patient is looking for a more energy storing foot, we recommend higher durometer plugs to create this feel.
The combinations of features found in the DuroFlex are all based on anatomically correct function. When you have a patient try this foot, first have them walk backwards with their current foot, then have them try it with the DuroFlex foot and enjoy the comments. The patient will find that the DuroFlex will give them a smooth roll-over backwards or forwards.
Each foot comes with a variety of different durometer urethane keel and heel plugs (30, 50, 60 and 85) that are interchangeable. (Factory setting is medium level in the heel and keel). This allows the DuroFlex to have custom Energy Storage & Return that can be uniquely tailored to meet the feel of each individual patient.
